M1 front seam restoration shell

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired several restoration M1 front seam shells. This is one of them (a McCord shell, made around dec.1943 - jan. 1944). The outside seems to be postwar repainted and it had new airborne insignias applied (...they are too big to be original). I tried several times with some acetone (after I made these pics) on wads of cotton wool, but the paint is very hard to remove. I'm 100% sure that there is only one (original) paint layer underneath the current one.

My question is: could anyone give me advise on how I could remove the repaint, besides from acetone? I live in the Netherlands, so unfortunately there's no goof off... :ermm:

Hello,

I live in France and I, I set of " décap'four " it is produced who cleans the ovens of kitchen.

And that walks very well to remove the paints which are not in the lead.

Hi.

I have used paint stripper, brush it on and leave it ...but not to long, and wash it off with water.

If you repeat this several times, you can slowly remove the layers of paint in stages.

Cheers
