Brian Keith Posted January 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2010 I belive these to be WW II era Boy Scout insignia. Any body know for sure? We're putting together a Home Front display and the Library asked about Scouting items. I've have these for many years, but never found out for sure if they are proper construction. The Star insignia is marked sterling, the others are unmarked. Thanks for any info! BKW
FrankEaton01 Posted January 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2010 The khaki and red community strip dates from the 1930's - mid-1940's. If I remember correctly, they switched to a red and white community strip around 1947. I'm not certain on the pins, but the thin stamped construction of the Tenderfoot and First Class ones would be consistent with conserving brass for the war effort. GIl Sanow Posted January 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2010 I would agree -- the Montpeilier strip may even be '30's. They changes to a greener shade about '48, so this predates that. The sterling star badge has to be wartime -- to save brass -- can't say I have ever seen one before. I need to be on the lookout for them.
