tractor Posted January 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2010 Here is the 69th Qms Disney image. I am trying to figure out if the C behind him is for C company or for the whole unit. If anyone knows anything about the 69th Qm I would love to find more out. They were a West Coast unit and from what I can tell never went overseas. I know A company was in the Aleutians, C company was at Fort MacArthur and D was at Camp Haan
disneydave Posted January 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2010 Hi Tractor. Thanks for posting this image. I had Forum Support split the post off into its own topic and I adjusted the title to match. This design was just the 25th insignia created at the Disney Studio. This particular design was created in the spring of 1941, well before America's official entry into the war. I have attached an image of a Stensgaard poster, which the design appeared on. As you can see form the poster, this emblem was created specifically for "C Company." As an interesting side-note, Stensgaard was a wartime Disney licensee. The company reproduced 54 of the Disney designs on home front posters. I own several originals, including one that features six designs and measures a whopping 15 inches tall by 60 inches long. Hope this helps, David
tractor Posted January 25, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted January 25, 2010 I am thinking that I am going to modify the image a little for the side of my WC 12 that came from Camp Haan. It was originally 216 CA however my grandfather served in 69 Qm D company. I may change the C into a D and put it on my truck. Also my copy of the image is a resketch off of the beer bottle on your site Dave and is not as accurate as your large one you just posted.
disneydave Posted January 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 26, 2010 Here is the beer bottle label tractor mentioned in the previous post. All three insignia designs depicted on the label were created at the Disney Studio.
