Here is another postcard photo from my archive. It appears to be an officer and when enlarged I can make out a 1 over a KY and behind it looks like infantry crossed rifles. Any comments or opinions welcome.

Nice image! Ok, first off I am no sword/saber expert so take this question with a big grain of salt. Isn't that the 1902 officer's sword?

 

Also he doesn't have the "USV" on his collar. When was that reg changed?

I was going by the uniform for dating of the photo, but you are right it is a model 1902 so I am guessing the photo is from the early 1900s. Also many state regiments wore their state initials not USV for volunteer.
