USER SUSPENSION: bong-p38 (aka BONG-P38)

Members of the USMF community:

 

Today the administration was again forced to suspend the account of community member "BONG-P38." I say "again" because this user originally signed up as "bong-38" and was banned for misuse of the PM and e-mail system.

 

A little over a week ago, I was notified by several members that a new user "bong-p38" (who signed up using a hotmail account) had sent them unsolicited emails and/or PMs requesting that they purchase certain items he was selling. All messages requested immediate contact for immediate sale. Most messages included a "@sbhsi.com" email address, the name "Wayne", and an area code "650" phone number. It is unknown if any or all of that information is correct, as "bong-p38" failed to make any militaria posts on this forum during the days he was a member.

 

One member, to whom a "for sale" email was sent, was aware of this user from other sites. He immediately alerted the administration here regarding the scammer. The member also provided us with information where this user had used the same phone number in sale ads for other non-militaria items. The odd thing about each ad is that each ad listed a different location for the item (although all locations were in the same geographic area in California).

 

I was also notified by another member that this user may sometimes go by the username "dbcooper".

 

Due to misuse of the PM and email system, "bong-p38"'s account was immediately banned (along with is email address).

 

Just yesterday, we received a request from a different anonymous email account for us to validate (or accept as a full member) a user named "BONG-P38". The request was accompanied by an inappropriate email rant against the board and administration for blocking his account. Needless to say, this account was banned as well.

 

In an interest to protect the members of this community, this account as well has been banned. Please use caution should you be contacted by any individual bearing this (or a similar) username or providing any information similar to the information presented in this warning.

 

And please understand that we provide the PM and email systems as services for our members. We do expect members to behave appropriately when using these services. Excessive use, such as unsolicited email and PM for sale ads, to the point that users complain about it is definitely something we take very seriously.

 

Clearly, this forum is not responsible for the actions of third parties. However we will (as evidenced here) take action if necessary when there are reported abuses of our PM and email system.
