Sgt Saunders Posted January 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2010 This is an M1 carbine stock pouch I bought reciently. It was sold to me as Original. It was cheap, same price as a good repro. I don't really believe it is original. I realy didn't care if it was or not I just needed one for a carbine I have. I've never seen the name of this maker before. Was Walter E. Allen a contractor for US carbine pouches? Thanks

Captainofthe7th Posted January 6, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 6, 2010 It looks repro to me, but it could be unissued. Check out atthefront, What Price glory, and WWII Impressions to see if it looks like any of the gear they have available. Rob

glenm Posted January 6, 2010 Share #8 Posted January 6, 2010 The only company I know that bothers putting the black sewing lines on their kit is ATF, and as far as I know this make name isn't one of theirs. Mint original I would say. Never heard of the maker, but there are so many more odd ones that aren't on the list above I wouldn't worry about it. Cheers, Glen. boyt44 Posted January 10, 2010 Share #15 Posted January 10, 2010 They came in an assortment of colors-that's for sure. There was a time when I'd always grab one or two of these on my way out of a militaria show with my last few bucks-I'd try to get every different maker I could find. boyt44 Posted January 10, 2010 Share #17 Posted January 10, 2010 I really have no idea how many of these pouches I have-these are just "loose" ones I rounded up for this photo, which I took for some other forum to illustrate the wide variety of colors encountered in US WW2 webgear. I never made a list of all the makers I have.

boyt44 Posted January 10, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 10, 2010 I went through all my carbine pouches, and I can only add a few to this list-I have most of those listed in that list, although mine might be a year earlier or later that that list. BTW, I found my Walter E. Allen 1943 pouch, and it is exactly as the first poster's one. Like all my other pouches,I bought it years ago for $5-$8, when there were piles of unissued ones at gunshows and militaria shows, and the idea of a "reproduction" one would have been laughable. I left all my British-Made and USMC pouches off my list, and I never bought one later that 1945,so I have no Korean-war vintage ones. Pouches with snaps on back: Midwest Duck and Canvas 1944 Appleton Awning Shop 1943 Hamlin Canvas Goods Co. 1943 Belt-loop type: Pittsburg Garter Co. 1944 Camlin Fashion of America 1943 Luce Mfg. 1944 ( the other list misspells it as "Fuce"

Sgt Saunders Posted January 10, 2010 Author Share #24 Posted January 10, 2010 Great info posted here guys. It's too bad it will get buried in all the posts. I guess it could allways be brought up in a search. How long do old posts get saved for? Are they archived?
craig_pickrall Posted January 11, 2010 Share #25 Posted January 11, 2010 They are saved forever or so far anyway. Eventually they will be merged into the thread already in the reference section about these ammo pouches.
