bazelot Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #1204 Posted July 9, 2017 Something you don't see everyday. A M-450 Manufactured by Mirabelli. The main different with other manufacturers of M-450s helmets are the seam tapes on the exterior instead of the inside.

bazelot Posted July 10, 2017 Author Share #1207 Posted July 10, 2017 Latest setups, both named to Vincent De poix. De Poix was with VF-6 on USS Enterprise and USS Saratoga. He was Also on Guadalcanal in 42-43. He was a graduate of the Naval Academy Class of 1939 - was a fighter pilot over Guadalcanal and had 3 victories to his credit. He had numerous commands including VF-172, VX-4, USS Albemarle, USS Enterprise and he served as Commander of the 7th Fleet off Vietnam, the 2nd Fleet and the Defense Intelligence Agency. I have been working with the seller for 2 years to get those helmets and I finally managed to get them. I have another helmet attributed to Vice Admiral De Poix so that makes 3 of them. It is not every day you get to buy flight helmets named to a pilot with 3 victories. 1st one is a leather 1092 flight helmet with his last name written in red paint on the back. Flight helmet has seen a lot of use but is still in great shape:

bazelot Posted July 12, 2017 Author Share #1213 Posted July 12, 2017 Latest and greatest. Again something you do not see everyday. A NAF 1092W modified with the AAF open leather earcups and late war oxy snaps. I had never seen a Navy helmet with those cups before. I don't really know if it was used by a Navy or AAF pilot but it fits right in in my collection. Navy aircrews used the AAF sponge earcups quite often but the open ended ones were not as common. All the snaps were covered in a heavy layer of verdigris and helmet had a hole on top which I managed to clean up and fix.

Verdigris comes off really easily, it makes a paste on top of metal that is fairly easy to remove
bazelot Posted July 31, 2017 Author Share #1217 Posted July 31, 2017 Latest setup. Really tough to find early AN6542 with small buckles, 3 section side panels and oxy mask snaps. Extremely rare setup which I did not have before. The brow has been cut off for comfort I assume.

bazelot Posted August 22, 2017 Author Share #1222 Posted August 22, 2017 Latest setup. This one I had never seen in that configuration. It is a rare TC66 setup covered in black painted chamois. I had never seen one with chamois painted black. The setup is equipped with Flat Sided ANBH1A receivers. This one is definitely unique.
