bazelot Posted October 19, 2020 Author Share #1551 Posted October 19, 2020 Latest and greatest. Early AN6540 helmet with small buckles, no brow and the 3 sided side panels. Rare in itself but this one is also equipped with the wwii contracted Aviometer boom mike. Those early boom mikes are very hard to find and I only had 2 setups with that mike installed and all the helmets were later contracts than this AN6540. The chin cup is a modified talker helmet chincup but it was found like that by the seller so I kept it on. Helmet is also displayed with a newly acquired MKIV pair of goggles. bazelot Posted November 10, 2020 Author Share #1556 Posted November 10, 2020 Latest and greatest, 1092 leather helmet with acoustics earcups, modified goggle straps, oxy snaps. Well used. Doesn't get much better than that.

bazelot Posted November 20, 2020 Author Share #1561 Posted November 20, 2020 Latest setup. You all know I have a nylon fetish. I cannot resist a nice nylon helmet with reinforced oxy snaps. Not common to see them, this is my latest setup displayed with newly acquired commercial MKIV goggles.
bazelot Posted November 23, 2020 Author Share #1562 Posted November 23, 2020 Latest and greatest. This setup is one of the best helmets I have. Truly a unique setup. What we have here is a commercial deck helmet that has been heavily customized by adding a padded chinstrap with multiple rows of snaps for adjustment. Chinstrap is made of navy sail cloth and the material was also used for the added goggle straps in the back. Basically everything is customized on this helmet. Goggles came with it and have the initials JS on them.
Flightpath Posted November 23, 2020 Share #1563 Posted November 23, 2020 What a beauty, the goggles are great too! The sewn in padding in the chin strap is a nice touch. You must have a log of people on the lookout for you!🙂

jerry_k Posted November 26, 2020 Share #1570 Posted November 26, 2020 Yes but in this case helmets would be from you. Still strange, rigger modified helmet like that in Canada without any story...
gparlin Posted November 26, 2020 Share #1571 Posted November 26, 2020 Where did I miss that the white deck rigger made helmet came out of Canada? I can think of several reasons why such a helmet ended up or started life in Canada. After reading your comment it appears that you are at a crossroads; stay in the U.S. and enjoy your excellent collection or move to France without them. We aren't allowing you to move one of the best Navy Flight Helmet collection amassed to another country, besides we want you stay. Gregg

bazelot Posted February 18, 2021 Author Share #1574 Posted February 18, 2021 Next up is a AN6542 leather flight helmet equipped with the Aviometer mike. Aviometer mikes are hard to come by but even harder to find on a leather helmet.
gparlin Posted February 19, 2021 Share #1575 Posted February 19, 2021 Great looking helmet and setup. It looks like the same mike setup as your Goldman helmet? Another wonderful addition to your collection. Thanks for posting, Gregg
