M-450 helmet with sewn in chincup. The buckle was cut off. I love it when helmets are modified to fit the personal preferences of pilots and aircrew.
It belonged to Grover Eugene Welborn, Jr., 89 of Bowie, Maryland, he served as a Gunner's Mate 1c in the Navy from 1940 until 1946

Very impressive historical pieces and thank you for sharing!

After 50 years of collecting I must prepare for the next adventure and I can't take my collection so Ebay auctions are underway (Jefftexoh).

Aution title: "WWII US Navy Pilot's Leather Helmet NAF 1092; Goggles; Headset TH37; gloves"

All items came from a veteran's estate and copies of his flight log and newspaper clippings will also come with this aviation group.

Another one. Late war setup customized with red trims. I love customized helmets. I just wish it could talk! It is attributed to a Harry B. Bass, a carrier pilot who was awarded the Navy Cross but I could not find any info on that Navy Cross.

Another interesting setup. M-450 helmet customized with Popeye artwork on both sides. This setup came with the popeye pipe from the pilot:
