Great display bazelot,

Here is my contribution with one of my USN flight helmets: my lived NAF 1092 completed with TH-37 receivers by Telephonica and goggles. I have the mic also but is not displayed in the pics.

Great 1092 with MKII goggles!! Thanks for posting them!!!

These pictures are not the best and the display heads do not do this helmet any service but here it goes; I still need to change the display head. THis is a 6542 with oxygen snaps and TH37 receivers. THis configuartaion is not common with oxygen snaps.

Generally it is hybrid model between AN6540-L and AN6541... AN6542 is a summer version :)

cheers,

Jerry

Pictures of the M-450 with TC66 earcups and oxy snaps. Previous pictures made it look way dirtier than it actually is. Beautiful helmet, I love it!

Latest setup, early AN6542 with a contract number of January / February 1944. This one is very interesting for several reasons. It has a big AAF stamp on top, It has rigger added snaps, they are reinforced with leather from the back and with heavy duty canvas from the front. It also sports a leather name tag on the brow section (A.J. Bregar)

Bregar flew P-51 Mustangs out of Iwo Jima and was credited with 2 kills. He was a AAF pilot and this helmet is a beautiful example of cross service use of gear. I was aware the Navy used AAF gear a lot but I had never owned a Navy helmet used by an Army pilot. The weird thing is that Adolph Bregar is listed on the USS White Plains aircraft carrier (CVE-66) in February of 1944. It must have been used as a transport for the many AAF men listed on the Nonenlisted Passengers list. A huge thank you to Forum Support all the information and the pictures of Bregar in his P-51 Mustang on Iwo Jima

Very nice helmet TOM :) another good score! I like a way of reinforced a O2 snaps and the fact that helmet was used by AAF pilot!

Cheers,

Jerry

Hi all,

Here is my latest acquisition. The Juliet is sewn directly on the flight cap. No device for headphones, I put a headset for the photo.

The chin strap is well marked USN, no label manufacturer, as often encountered during WWII.

Enjoy

Very odd setup indeed. I had seen this one on Ebay. It came with a WWII pressure suit. That is one real cool setup. Could you take pics of the other side to see the attachments?

One of my latest setups. Black TC66 cups covered in chamois thta was once sewn onto a M-450 helmet and subsequently cut out to make a headset. I had never seen a setup like this one and i am glad I got it. I wonder at what point the pilot decided to make a headset out of his flight helmet. Anyway avery interesting setup which I am displaying with VD goggles and M-450 helmet.

Latest setup, Commercial white deck helmet with TC66 earcups secured with leather. THe setup is really clean and the TC66 cups are mint. I had never seen TC66 cups in such great shape.

My first official US Navy helmet on The Forum. An M-450 with coarsely basted-on "volcanoes". Helmet is named in two places. Original goggle pad was 'fossilized' so a replacement was substituted in.
