Rattle Posted December 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2009 Found me these two pairs of small Naval aviator wings in antique shops a few days ago (every pair in a different store) I know the H&H wings are WWII but what era are the Meyer wings ? i guess these are pre WWII. Stephan The wings amongst the other finds.

Rattle Posted December 21, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 21, 2009 The wings in question, marked with an impressed Meyer shield and Rolled Plate marking. The name "Scotty" is also engraved. Regards, Stephan

Regards, Stephan I would date this "13 star wing" design as WWI. However they were still being worn as late as early WWII on garrison caps. Don't know if they were still being manufactured at that time. As an aside, there is a good chance that the "hat wings" will return for aviators for at least the 2011 Centennial of Naval Aviation. Aviators will wear a miniature wing on the garrison cap in place of the officer's cap device.
