Sabrejet Posted December 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2009 From the same stable as "Dogfights" comes "Battle 360", which documents the exploits of the legendary carrier USS Enterprise during WW2. The history of the "Big E" is effectively the history of the war in the Pacific. She was ubiquitous, taking part in every significant naval action...and surviving to tell the tale! The series uses state-of-the-art CGI graphics to re-create the action from every conceivable viewpoint...in the air, on the carrier, below the waves and on support vessels...hence the "360" of the title. As with "Dogfights", the action sequences are punctuated by interviews with surviving shipmates and naval historians. A remarkable series documenting an equally remarkable carrier! Recommended viewing if you haven't already seen it. Sabrejet
graham Posted December 20, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2009 Another good one. The CGI graphics are appreciated by my 10 year old son, anything that gets em interested in history at an early age cant be bad.
DaveS44 Posted March 1, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2010 I really liked this. I'm a huge fand of the Pacific Naval battles. Its tragic that this great ship was not saved as a museum. - Dave
Divinemind Posted June 9, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2010 This show was excellent. The history channel is hard to beat especially when compared to many of the other channels out there.
nix284 Posted June 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2010 CGI is incredible these days. What will the next generation be like?
Garandomatic Posted July 15, 2010 Share #6 Posted July 15, 2010 Saw this the other night. Wife appreciates the stuff I am into, but usually doesn't get into it (Defiance is a favorite movie of hers, and she did buy me a Luger once, so she's alright!), but she was immediately taken by the show when they said "USS Franklin" and I told her what would happen next. TheGrayGhost Posted August 19, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 19, 2010 Excellent series!!! I am sad that I will never be able to see the Big E with my own eyes, but in a way I am glad that she was destroyed rather than turned into a museum. She was too proud to be left at dock to rot and have kids running around her decks eating cotton candy and touching everything they see.
