Hello Forum, This item was in with a soldiers small grouping of medals. It is very light tin medal. I was told it was off from a control lever. What is your take? Regards, Bill

First thing that came to my mind is a B-45 Tornado

Yep, that's a B-45. Wings and nacelles are incorrect for the B-57 and the canopy and nose glass are incorrect for a B-57B. The greenhouse-type nose glass is consistent with the B-45. B-57Bs had blown canopies and nose perspex with no framing.

Pretty rare bomber, so that's a really nice piece!

EDIT: I looked a bit harder at it and the canopy does look a little like that of an early B-57, but the wings nose and nacelles are all B-45!

Funny thing about this, but I was just looking at an RB-45 at the Strategic Air and Space Museum here in Nebraska last weekend.

When you look at the straight wings and tail surfaces, it looks like a WWII bomber with jet engines strapped to it. Swept wings came with the next generation of aircraft.
