SGM (ret.) Posted November 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2009 Is there a way to replace the textured leatherettte body covering on binoculars that is often found to be damaged? I believe that there are several individuals who repair old optics, to include binos. I don't know if the fix is a do-it-yourself kida job, but I do believe a repair can be made. Google "binocular repair service" for several pages of options. I'd think that a couple of phone calls would hook you up with someone who could make the repair. Good luck, Mike Just goofing off and found these guys. This is no endorsement, but they at least say all the right things about their repair services. Suddart Optical Repair Please post your project and how it goes for the rest of us. An interesting problem.
AirMechanic Posted November 30, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 30, 2009 I ended up just selling the binoculars as is. From time to time I find a pair that have the leatherette damaged, but they are never really worth that much to have them professionally repaired.
