It’s a simple one but belonged to the famous Stalag Luft 3 tunnel man Edward A Tovre. Ed was one of the lucky, I think, Americans transferred out before the deadly escape. I also have a letter of commendation for his tunnel work in SL3 among other things.

My newest engraved (or scratched) wing. Has the initials SCK and the number 32364071. It's done lightly and hard to photograph.....

Great wing! Here's his Enlistment Record http://aad.archives.gov/aad/record-detail.jsp?dt=893&mtch=1&cat=WR26&tf=F&sc=24994,24995,24996,24998,24997,24993,24981,24983&bc=,sl,fd&txt_24994=32364071&op_24994=0&nfo_24994=V,8,1900&rpp=10&pg=1&rid=2986896

Here is my first engraved wing. Joe flew 35 missions in a B-29 over Japan, he was the AC (Airplane Commander), a title created specifically for the B-29 and the brunt of some excellent cartoons from the time which "lovingly" poked a bit at the "Big Cheese". Hope you enjoy.

Seventy years ago today, February 26, 1943, 2nd Lt. Charles G. Novak, 2nd Lt. James W. Bishop, 2nd Lt. Ernest F. Pasqua, Sgt. V.A. Berreth, Sgt. A.J. Burke, S/Sgt. Melvin P. Simms, Sgt. Woodrow W. Erwin, S/Sgt. Joseph P. Bancom, Pvt. Robert M. Parchman and Sgt. Howard T. Speak all perished in B-17 42-29528.

Shortly after take-off from Biggs Field, Texas the ship crashed into the ground while on a night formation take-off training mission. The pilot 2nd. Lt. Edward M. Kelley was severely injured but survived.

Iam proud to own and display S/Sgt. Melvin Porter Simms Jr.'s Aircrew Wing !!
