Many, many USAF patches around here these days, absolutely great!

Any Army patch collectors out there, who want to share their pocket patches? I prefer those of the "Golden era" (1940's - 1960's). I'm starting with front and back pic of a German made 127th Abn Eng Bn patch. Let's see yours!

A real WWII 517th...By the way, I believe that the same company who made the REAL 506th patches also made the REAL 517th pocket patches as both trained in Toccoa and the ORIGINAL 506th patches were made locally in Atlanta. Both patches have very similar features in the detail which would make one think that some ambitious patch salesman made his way to Toccoa after the success with the 506th block purchase.

There is one huge difference between the original 506ths and the original 517ths. The 506th had Merrowed border and the 517th did not. I cannot say for sure where either patch was made, but I would doubt that they were made by the same company - not that it makes any difference.

Patch,

Aside from the "merrowed" border when comparing the two side by side, there are a number of similiar traits. The most obvious is the details in the wing "feathering". That coupled with the fact that there were limited manufacturers within 90 miles of Toccoa in the 1940's, things start to add up.

Here are a few that I have, plus a 508th that has been posted in this thread. The 501st is over top of the 11th in the frame.
