Abby K-9 Posted November 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2009 I have been asked by one of the units on base to provide them with vendor links for World War II and Civil War uniforms. I'm pretty well set regarding World War II, as I'm a WWII reenactor, but I wouldn't know where to start with Civil War. They are looking for a quality reproduction of a Union NCO's uniform. Can anyone point me in the right direction in regards to vendors so I can pass the information along, please?

Abby K-9 Posted November 20, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 20, 2009 I can't see that list. It takes me to a forum and asks me to log in?

oldfireguy Posted November 21, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 21, 2009 Go to http://www.campchase.com/news/index.asp and follow their sutler links. It has a list of vendors but not links to their websites. You will have to look up that information.
srossio Posted November 21, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 21, 2009 C & D Jarnagin in Corinth Mississippi has nice stuff for a fair price. Wambaugh and White make very nice items but the price is more due to the attention to details. My frock is a Jarnagin and I love it. It was very high quality and once I re-sewed the button holes it looks great. I am also in the process of purchasing a Wambaugh sack coat. I have seen several in the field and they are a work of art. Just my two cents. Steve

Schnicklfritz Posted November 21, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 21, 2009 If you are looking for accurate and authentic items, save yourself some mula and do some good research before buying anything. There are alot of sutlers that claim to be authentic, but not so. Jargnagin has very nice leather gear and tinned goods, but the uniforms are farby. Here are some good dealers in uniform and accouts: -County Cloth, Charlie Childs -Nic Sekela, Historic Clothiers -W & W Company -E. J. Thomas Mercantile, has authentic items from several makers. - Ben Tart, cloth and uniforms. -The Trans-Mississippi Depot does in stock only business now, but Don's items are based on originals. -Bender Hats -Greg Starbuck makes awesome kepis and headgear based on originals. -The Civil War Reenactors forum has a for sale table. There are good items to be had there. The above is just a starting point.
Abby K-9 Posted November 23, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted November 23, 2009 Thank you very much, everyone, I will definitely pass the links along. Schnickelfritz - as I said above, these uniforms are not for me. One of the units on base wants to have uniforms for ceremonies (rather than borrow them from the Historical Collection, where I work) and wants to know where to purchase them. I don't think they care about authenticity, as they will be seen from 20+ feet away during the ceremonies. They just need to look the part. I'm trying to at least steer them in the right direction in terms of authenticity.
