kfields Posted November 9, 2009 #1 Posted November 9, 2009 "Sabrejet's" prior thread motivated me to show the 43rd Bomber Wing pocket patch my uncle gave me. He actually gave me two of these, the other is still on his set of fatigues. He was a member of the 43rd Field Maintenance Squadron that cared for these B-58 bombers.
NebrPatch Posted November 10, 2009 #2 Posted November 10, 2009 As with the 305th BW, this is also a very sought-after patch. Tom
kfields Posted November 10, 2009 Author #3 Posted November 10, 2009 Tom, Did the 305th BW fly out of Bunker Hill AFB? Kim
NebrPatch Posted November 10, 2009 #5 Posted November 10, 2009 Kim: Here's the whole scoop on B-58 bases: 43rd BW, Carswell, Texas. First B-58's rec'd in 1960 305th BW, Bunker Hill. First B-58's rec'd in 1961 43rd BW moved to Little Rock in 1964. Tom
Teamski Posted November 10, 2009 #6 Posted November 10, 2009 What a sweet patch! Really slick!!! -Ski
kfields Posted November 10, 2009 Author #7 Posted November 10, 2009 Thanks for the great information! Kim
Steindaddie Posted November 10, 2009 #8 Posted November 10, 2009 I like! I've seen these over the years, but sometimes I am leery because almost all seem to be in mint condition. It sure is nice to see one that's been there, done that, and has airtight provenance. Will
benguttery Posted November 11, 2009 #9 Posted November 11, 2009 This patch names all the aviation trophies the B-58 had won. I think the M-2 is for Mach 2.
