Notice he's wearing an oak leaf cluster on his Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal ribbon in both pictures. I don't believe that has ever been the authorized device to denote multiple awards of that medal,

At some unmentioned Air Base in the late 50s, a Guard Detail Falls In,

Note the odd mixture of Sage Greens and Khakis being worn, and without Boots being Bloused, that's if their wearing Combat Boots, they very well could be wearing those Air Force Ankle Boots.

And, no National Defense Service Medal ribbon?

I've been hunting a transition era uniform and picked up this one not long ago with trousers and cap.  1946 Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot tag, gold collar discs, new Sergeant chevrons, and a round US Air Force Europe shoulder patch.

Here's my undated woman's blue jacket and slacks with matching laundry numbers.

Here's a funny thing, I got the jacket since January and only managed to get a pair of slacks just a few days ago, I was so surprised to see the matching laundry numbers on both clothings!

However, the stock no. and fonts color used on the labels are different, maybe she got issued another pair of slacks?

Greetings All,

In the works since 2016, Lance Young and Team (Dave Shultz, Johnny Schlund and Jack Waid) are in final stages of publication.  Will likely be available by the end of January 2026.  We are hoping sooner.

These pictures are from a yearbook I have from the Sixth Bomb Wing (H), Walker AFB, 1954. They show a nice assortment of USAF uniforms.

Here's the cover of the book and a color photo of a pre-flight check.

Not really my area of expertise, but at least in later years Army SSI was usually a sign of being assigned as a FAC/TACP to that unit.

Correct, it goes as far back as Korea I believe.

Here's a mid to late 60s one 2nd Arnd Div at Ft Hood Texas,

There is also floating around photos etc in various topics of this, like I recall a 4th Infantry Division, Full Color I think, patch worn by an USAF officer In Country in the Central Highlands, but can't find that one.

Do you mean the pattern of shirt? Or Air Force Fatique Shirts with the Army Patches on them?

Hi. Do you happen to have any date info on this photo? I recently bought a 1966 contract Air Force overcoat and would love to see one in contemporary use. Thanks!

mikie,

The yearbook states they were in Thule , Greenland in October 1953 and again in February 1954 so this picture is from one of those maneuvers.
