ClaptonIsGod Posted November 5, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 5, 2009 Looks to be a modded LCT of sorts, some sort of landing craft with a steel deck welded onto it
bleujacket34 Posted November 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2009 Agreed Wow is right. That is pretty ingenious but not something I would want to land on lol. Andrew
gunbarrel Posted November 5, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted November 5, 2009 Guys, The caption reads: US Army helicopter making mid-stream landing atop an armored troop carrier, or ATC, which, when equipped w. a flight deck, are referred to as the US Navy's smallest aircraft carriers. Location: Vietnam Date taken: July 1968 I'm glad you got a kick out of the picture, too!
Jim Baker Posted November 5, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 5, 2009 Interesting. I've got to ask my brother if he ever saw one of these.
sigsaye Posted November 5, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 5, 2009 ATC is Armored Troop Carrier. It is a heavily modified LCM 6 landing craft. The armor is corigated metal to asorb RPG rounds. These things were modified for all soets of uses. Does it appear that the person standing by the gun turret with the barrel over their shoulder is female?
