CNY Militaria Posted May 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2007 I have had this for a few years now. Its dated 1917 and named to "H.G. Bayless". It is a converted Officer jacket made for an EM. He was a CPL, wounded once, and spent a year overseas. The patch was removed before I got it, but I was wondering if anyone knew which WWI unit patches could have been on here? It is a half moon type shape as outlined by the photo I drew on. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Justin

CNY Militaria Posted May 29, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 29, 2007 Also, I don't think its 78th Division, it would have to be HUGE!
jim2 Posted May 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 29, 2007 Justin i am thinking either the 41st division or the 78th division.
CNY Militaria Posted May 29, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted May 29, 2007 I thought that at first, but the dimensions are 3.5 inches wide, and 2.5 inches tall. It just seems like the patch would have been larger than most seen from those units.

duarte1223 Posted May 30, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 30, 2007 There's a picture at the local historical society of a company of the 78th division, and their patches are huge, so I wouldn't rule that out. I don't own it, so I don't have pictures, but I'll try to get some next time I'm up there. Adam
CNY Militaria Posted May 30, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted May 30, 2007 Thanks, Based on a picture that was sent to me of a huge patch that would fit this perfectly, I think this is a 41st ID uniform.

Wyonative Posted April 3, 2010 Share #13 Posted April 3, 2010 Thanks! Hi Guys, I have browsed these forums off and on for a couple of years. Oddly enough I decided to join them because of this uniform. As I was researching some stuff I bought the other day and discovered that it was posted already.... Any more information on Mr. Bayless would be appreciated. Thanks, Ryan
