This McCord shell has a heat number of 274B

Fixed bails with the T3 chin strap upgrade.

Has light green over I believe a darker green.

Has markings to front and a rectangle to the top.

Thought you might enjoy.

Any one with thoughts on the markings is greatly appreciated.

Just a bump from an old post to see if anyone had an idea of the markings and what they might mean.

Also the square on top?

thanks,

Burning Hazard

Nice helmet. My first thought is possibly Navy or Coast Guard markings?

Here is a pic from Saipan showing a star painted on the dome of an M1.

Thank you .  I had also considered a Navy link.

The helmet is standard green but has an over coat of a lighter yellowish green which I think gives it a nice appearance.

The markings on the front I could see being Navy related.  Maybe landing craft?

Naw man. I mean maybe. But that’s major speculation. I have quite a few marked Navies and unfortunately if we wanna be real about it the meanings are lost to time and often mark positions on a specific ship…. So Less likely it’s a hull number and more likely a gun position or something to that effect of some unknown vessel unless it’s named and can narrow down the guys service record. Many numbered Navies usually are stenciled though as opposed to hand rendered like this but could still be Naval related. Ive seen it both ways. Nice pot!
