The second card was furnished by the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, also from 1944. Obviously it was printed before the Battle of the Bulge!

I don't know, Bob.

I have three from WWII, and one a friend sent me from Iraq, so I have to believe there have been plenty of them made.

Part of my reason for posting these is to see what else is out there.

Steve

Use of military message form interesting on this SC PC. The red in the signal flags appears to have been seperatly applied by hand and is flaking off the card. Reverse message shown below.

I forgot to post this right after Christmas.

This card came with a group of items that belonged to Ronald F. Konig of Co. F, 18th IR, 1st ID.

This is a Christmas program printed for the American POW's at Dispatch Camp # 5 at Kawasaki Japan in Dec 1943. The Japanese camp administration actually printed it for them.

Here is a Chsritmas card from Joseph C. O'Neill who served on Wake Island , and died as a POW in Japan . He initially was sent to a POW camp in Shanghai China , but later was transferrred to a camp at Osaka, Japan. He died there in January 1944 . There is 2 binders of paperwork. Much of it is post war, relating to the struggle his family experienced to get compensation for his death.

He mailed the card in November before the war started.

Here are a couple from my collection. The first is from the German POW camp at Como, Mississippi. It was made in the camp and has the prisoner's name and number on the back. The second was sent to me by my best friend who served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. It was explained to me that the Desert Shield Christmas card could not contain any religious imagery or wording so as not to offend the Arabs.

Here's one with a story

This X-mas card was sent by Mrs. Mamie Widmer to her beloved son Richard on 19 December 1944. Dick Widmer was a member of HQ Company of the 422nd Infantry Regiment of the 106th "Golden Lion" Division.

19 December was ironically the date of his capture. He was imprisoned at Stalag IVB Muhlberg and VIIIA Gorlitz.

Friendly regards

This is a great thread!! Here is a Christmas card that my Grandfather sent home. It isn't dated, but he would have been in AAF for Christmas of 1941 through 1944. I was lucky enough to find it in an old trunk at the family farm (thus the water stains and mold). Enjoy.
