CNY Militaria Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #51 Posted May 28, 2007 The "code" is on a tiny piece of paper, and glued on the back of the Major rank. Thats why I didn't place much emphasis on it, I figure it may be a makers code or something since its such a unique set of rank insignia. Thanks Jason, I will double check those as well...you never know! Well to get you both excited, I have pics of the Armor MP ike, as well as another SWEET 4th AD officer uniform I haven't shown yet that I forgot about! Want me to post them here, or start another thread?

CNY Militaria Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #54 Posted May 28, 2007 I bought this for 3 reasons, first, the Military Police branch, the theater made ribbon bar, and most importantly, the reversed pattern mistake 99th ID patch!

Jim Baker Posted May 28, 2007 Share #57 Posted May 28, 2007 OK, I get it now. MP with 99th, formerly with the armored division. Nice 99th patch, I noticed the reverse pattern right away.
CNY Militaria Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #58 Posted May 28, 2007 I wonder if he could have been an MP with the 6th AD before the 99th as well?
CNY Militaria Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #59 Posted May 28, 2007 Forgot about this one guys, named to John Walter. He was in the 13th AD and 99th ID during the war, then went to West Point in the late 40's, graduated, and retired from the US AIR FORCE as a LTC. He was awarded 2 Purple hearts and a bronze star in WWII. The son did not think too highly of this gentleman. Notice how he looks like Audie Murphy a bit! Jeeper704 Posted May 28, 2007 Share #63 Posted May 28, 2007 Justin, Those are great looking uniform jackets. I liked the reversed 99th patch too eventhough I'm mainly into Armor/TD. You never stop to amaze me here. It could be possible that he was already an MP in the 6th AD. Like other soldiers, these men were rotating in and out of units too. I wonder if he served in the Battle of the Bulge. The M43 is very nice too with the CIB. Now he certainly must have been in the Ardennes, no? Eh, I heard you talking about yet another 4th AD jacket????? Btw, I am sorry for Jim messing up your tread here. But he means well. Erwin
CNY Militaria Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #64 Posted May 28, 2007 Thanks Erwin! This is a sweet find here, 4th Armored, 22nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion. Named to Captain Louis I. Jordan, his family didn't know much about his service. He did retire as a Major though.Notice the wierd captain's bars. I have never seen an attachment like that! CNY Militaria Posted May 28, 2007 Author Share #67 Posted May 28, 2007 I think Walter was in the Ardennes being that he was with the 99th "Battle Babies" early in the battle.
Jeeper704 Posted May 28, 2007 Share #68 Posted May 28, 2007 Another nice one indeed! Very strange Captain bars, I don't think I saw them before as well. Two Bronze Stars too. I think the 22nd and the 94th operated a lot with arial observation planes. It is my believe they were known for their accuracy and devastating fire missions. Thanks for posting these fine looking jackets. You made this "Armor boy" very happy. Erwin I know a guy who would be interested in the story of Walter in The Bulge with the 99th. He's called Jeroen V here.
CNY Militaria Posted May 29, 2007 Author Share #69 Posted May 29, 2007 I didn't even notice the bars until yesterday as well, I was rather surprised! Thanks for the information about the 22nd! I wish I had CPT Jordan's serial # to get more info on him. Send Jeroen to this thread, he will like it! Justin Another nice one indeed! Jeeper704 Posted May 31, 2007 Share #71 Posted May 31, 2007 Unfortunately, I don't have it. A while back it was on eBay but I got blown out of the water by a couple of other bidders. Erwin
