The neatest part of this was that Alan's grandfather was also 2/2/2! What are the odds!?! He said he had spotted Alan's 2nd Marine Div patch. Really neat guy and a definite high point of the weekend.

I thought this was cute. Clearly he doesn't know me.

Those are all great re-enactor photos and great stories from a couple vets there too. A surprising coincidence here....I have a uniform that belonged to a vet that was in G Co. of 2nd Bttn, 2nd regt. at Guadalcanal. Wonder if they knew each other???

Couple more, taken last weekend. My husband and our friend Brandon wearing their USMC dress blues. Brandon's officer blues are originals, my husband is wearing the WWII Impressions blues, with original cap. I am dressed as US Navy WAVES in these photos.

@fortworthgal, looking good, my sister was in the Corps in the late `60's, I've been trying to get her to send me a picture of her back then, she say's NO WAY, what a shame. :(

Here's some pictures I took last summer in Switzerland, I think the camo looks pretty good in some of these pictures, or maybe I'm just patting myself on the back. ;)

Thanks, I guess I just get lucky sometimes, I'm not a good picture taker. ;)

Here's a couple more taken in Switzerland, 2008, Marthalen, http://dodge-wc.blogspot.com/2008/08/marthalen08.html

I'm the old chubby guy on the left.

"Home away from home", complete with all the noises and movements that come with sleeping, or trying to sleep in those tents.

These are superb, ladies and gents! ;)

I LOVE your Tarawa set up D.A.T., reminds me of a similar impression I did a couple of years back.

I'll have to get some photos up here soon, I'm being slack!

Here are some pictures from a recent Bougainville themed PTO event out on my parent's land near Dallas, Texas.

This is of me (left) and Aaron (right) holding my original captured Japanese flag and Japanese helmet.

Hey guys,

Some more superb USMC impressions! justinwjolly, that's an impressive hoard of marines there, were you portraying a particular campaign?

Here's one more of me, from last month.

2nd Raider Battalion, during the Makin raid of August 1942:

post-5339-1278494484.jpg

Sorry it's so small, I was having trouble with re-sizing.

My uniform and equipment was as follows:

P41 dungarees

M1 FB helmet with burlap helmet cover camouflaged with dark OD paint

Pistol belt with M36 suspenders (favoured my raiders at Makin)

5 cell Thompson mag pouch with mags and rounds

P2 canteen cover and canteen

Collins Number 18 'Gung Ho' bowie knife

1918 dated grenade vest (the few photos that were taken during the raid, show marines wearing these)

M1928A1 Thompson sub-machine gun

'Rough out' hunting boots with sea-boot stockings (Carlson ordered a number of pairs of 'Raider boots' prior to Makin and were a dark brown leather hunting boot with steel toe-caps)

Enjoy!
