Writing on helmet covers

Has anyone considered saying "Don't do it"? 25 years from now someone will be posting it here puzzled by why a '77 cover had these "Nam type sayings on it.

I actually dont think its worth messing with a micthell cover either. Even if you use a post-VN cover, it wont really be correct for a lot of VN impressions except maybe a super late one (long flap covers seem to of first been made in 1969 and I dont know how many made it to Vietnam but I think the number is very small). You can tell if a helmet has a long flap or a short flap just by looking at the side of a helmet. Although small details like that may not matter to some people.....

I think a helmet cover with the correct amount of wear and fading and dirt for VN serivce, and tight over the helmet, looks a whole lot better and cooler for an impression or display than any writing.

Hello, what should I use to write on a helmet cover? I refuse to use, Ball point pen or sharpie.
