WW1 Helmet cover

Hi,

Although I know there are no official US WW1 helmet covers, thought I would share what I assume is a unit made one.

The 104th FA did not serve with its division in France, it was attached to the 33rd and 79th division to the North and North East of Verdun.

I was lucky enough to get a small set of goodies belonging to Major Seymour, one of the battalion commanders of the 104th.

Has anyone seen a cover like this before? Initially I thought it nay be a Brit cover, but apparently not.

I am now assuming a battery tailor made them....

All the best

Chris
