Nellis Posted June 19, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 19, 2007 Lovely jacket!! How do you know the insignia was made in Italy? I guess the unit history would be helpful. Are you basing your opinion on where the unit served or how the patches are made? Thanks, Nate
CNY Militaria Posted June 19, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2007 I assumed Italian manufacture as well due to the way the insignia is made. I can't explain in words how Italian made insignia should look, but "know it when I see it". Justin
ccmax Posted June 19, 2007 Share #7 Posted June 19, 2007 Hello Nate, I'm basing my opinion on the materials and construction method. The same patterns can be observed on a variety of other insigne from units known to have served in Italy. In fact, I believe the 10th Mtn. patch above was from a very popular manufacturer based in Florence. I am assuming this from what I was told by vets who purchased their theatre made patches in that city. Florence had a thriving industry of patches, bracelets and marble souvenirs that were sold to Allied soldiers. Similar industries existed in Naples and Rome, but by far the best souvenirs I've seen the "made in Firenze". Regards Cesar. Lovely jacket!! How do you know the insignia was made in Italy? I guess the unit history would be helpful. Are you basing your opinion on where the unit served or how the patches are made? Thanks, Nate
