Okay, so early. I've seen a ton of short flaps with no date or us stamps, I do have a few with dates and stamps though, just thought they were different makers or something, thanks. craig_pickrall Posted September 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 10, 2009 They may be factory rejects or production over runs for sell to surplus stores. If intended for surplus store sells it would have been in the period of usage not later. That may be the case for the new examples. For the used ones it may be that the ink stamps are worn or washed away. For some unknown reason the ink stamps used from the mid 1950's through the late 1960's did not remain on the web gear very well.

Justin Posted August 9, 2013 Author Share #13 Posted August 9, 2013 I have a "long skinny" type dated 1964. That's the earliest I've seen made this way.
Justin Posted August 9, 2013 Author Share #14 Posted August 9, 2013 Hello, I just picked up 2 long flaps with 1962 dates. Turns out these were "short fat" ones. I went through my box today and didn't see any 1962 dated long skinny type.
