Couple more shots looking forward to the bow. How'd you like to see that in front of you as you did what the Navy always AVOIDED doing - running a ship aground!

 

The buildings in the background are an interesting contrast and "look back" in a way... there are some WW2 pictures of beached LST's that are about the same distance from buildings and such on shores we invaded or were sending troops & equipment in on... now I wish I had taken some of my pics in black and white as a "throwback"...

Ventilation ducts and machinery and gear (I think) for the rear / bow anchor which LST's used to help pull themselves back off the beaches they had beached themselves on.

There was an earlier picture of a gun tub to the front and left of the bridge. This is that same tub, except looking at it from the bow / front of the LST. The bridge is to the left of the ribbon bar.
