This is a hatch leading to the vertical tunnel that leads all the way to the lowest deck at the bottom of the ship. It was intended as an escape route for those way down below decks. Imagine trying to escape a listing, burning, damaged ship through that, when you yourself may have been dazed or injured, and fighting smoke, flames, or low light...

Enlisted crew's quarters, not restored yet obviously, and then the hatch leading down from there to the ship store, refrigerators, and rudder rooms

Various compartments, and also just a nice shot of a hatch to show how large and heavy they are, then a ladderway too - these are all on the starboard / right side, ahead of those mess areas, which are amidships about.
