Patches like that one were sometimes made and worn by the civilian defense contracting companies during the development and trials of new weapon systems. In this case this patch has to do with the team from FMC that was working with the Marine Corps developing and designing the new LVTP7 Amph track for the Marine Corps. I would guess that this patch dates to the early 1970s when the LVTP7 was just being phased in to service.
