Unmarked Tanker Helmet

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

This is being sold in about an hour at an auction, and wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it. I will be leaving after posting this, and someone will call me with your responses. It appears to be unmarked....Which confuses me. Here are the pictures. Thanks!

final. I realize they value is depleted with the broken leather, but I was wondering about why I cannot find markings....Unless I just missed them.

The makers mark should be in this area,(red circle) maybe they are worn off or hard to see, or maybe lightly put there originally , it looks US WWII not a European knock off used post war.....mike

Thanks guys!! I just bought it $40. Was that ok? I still would love to hear any more comments on it! I'm going to clean the leather and see if I can find a maker mark, and if I can, I will post it.

IT JUST GOT BETTER!!!!!!!

After a damp cloth and a light rub, I got this: It's still super faint and once it dries its hardly visible again:

In pen ink:

12227943 (I think)

Pvt. Alfred Levy

In stamped ink:

Sears Saddlery Co., 7 3/8 in the middle of the writing.
