Differences Among Flak Helmets?

Hi-

 

Can anyone post the differences between the Flak helmets? Are they mostly cosmetic? As for example, the M3 having rounded bottom ear flaps with fixed and swivel bails on the outside, and the M5 pointed bottom ear flaps with bails on the inside?

 

What about the M4A1 and M4A2?

 

Was there an M2?

 

Was there an M4?
