JimmCapp Posted September 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2009 A Marine grouping on Ebay: Ebay link Old Collection WW2 US Marine Corps Patches 18, 51, 52 + There is a listing for the 1st - 6th Divisions supposedly from the same retired Marine. They are all pretty common and look to be good. These all look like reproductions to me. The 51st's bobbin threads have the poly fishing line look to them and you can kind of see the UV light reactive mesh backing around the outside rear of them all. What do you all think? tredhed2 Posted September 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2009 All recent makes for collectors. Why? Way more collectors than Marines, + in 1947 Marines ordered no more "battle blazes" (what they called SSI) to be worn.
JimmCapp Posted September 2, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted September 2, 2009 Thanks for the reply. Maybe this should be moved to the reproduction alert section?
Teamski Posted September 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 2, 2009 Well, those synthetic-backed repros have been around for quite a few years. At least they are easy to spot for most collectors. -Ski
