scottplen Posted November 6, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 6, 2009 Got his file from st louis John Zanassi (sgt) 39051737 Seems he was Killed in the assault on Mariveles Harbor Bataan and originally buried there this is the 1st restored file($60) and i did find more info on this soldier but not sure if i would buy any more from st louis they copied like 10 of the same thing !! and i was hoping for a photo but !! there is a nice letter to his mother from Hq 24th Calvery rec troop mecz well can't seem to get my scanner to work so Dr Mrs Zanassi March 12 1945 it is with deepest sympathy that I write this letter informing you of your sons death john was killed in action participating in landings at Mariveles Harbour Bataan PI while a member of this organization john was repected by both the officiers and men His ability to lead men and his willingness to do more than his duty contributed greatly to the success of many missions. His loss has been keenly felt by allhis comrades. Catholic services were held for John by the chaplian he was buried in Marveles cemetery, Marveles Bataan Richard V. Collopy 1st Lt Calvary Commanding so i guess to have this letter it was worth it !!! now just have to wait and see if IDPF ever comes !
