Frank76 Posted May 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2007 Can anyone tell me if these are original wartime Airborne jump boots? They look original, but the markings are not readeble.Any help would be appreciated.
Michiel M. Posted May 9, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 9, 2007 Frank, do not buy them. They are not WWII.
Greg Sebring Posted May 9, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 9, 2007 Frank, For comparison purposes here are some pix of my dads WWII jump boots. I read somewhere where WWII era had 12 eyelets for the laces. I don't know the validity of that but my dads have 12. Greg
Greg Sebring Posted May 9, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 9, 2007 another view... don't know if you will be able to read the info sheet due to downsizing in order to post it. Greg
Michiel M. Posted May 9, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2007 For comparison purposes here are some pix of my dads WWII jump boots. I read somewhere where WWII era had 12 eyelets for the laces. That depends on the size of the boots. There are also boots with 11 eyelets. Nice boots btw!
New Romantic Posted May 9, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2007 Frank, as the others have said, the boots in your links are not WWII jump boots. They are the Russet service combat boot which was adopted in 1948 but did not see widespread use til late in the Korean War. Here is a photo of my combat service boots dated 1952. Compare these to the jump boots posted here. Especially take note of the slant of the heel on the jump boots.
Michiel M. Posted May 9, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 9, 2007 Compare these to the jump boots posted here. Especially take note of the slant of the heel on the jump boots. Not all WWII Jumpboots have slanted heels. I've been told the first ones hadn't slanted heels neither..
copdoc Posted May 20, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 20, 2007 pix of my dads WWII jump boots Greg Those are in great shape. My Dad was issued an extra pair that didn't fit. He left them at home when he went overseas. He wore out his pair and gave me the extra pair that were almost new when I was a kid. I wore them out. I wish I had kept them but at the time did not have a pair of boots and did not realize they were WWII issue.
