BEAR Posted November 21, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2006 My Dad let me take this off of one of his old Ike jackets about 1961. Have no idea if it is WWII vintage. Just thought ya'll would like to see it. BEAR
ADMIN Posted November 21, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 21, 2006 Welcome to the forum! It looks very similar - maybe the same but I don't have my reference - to what Mark Bando classifies as a Type 3 101st Airborne patch based on the eye and the shape of the head and beak. The back also backs up that classification. I would definitely say that it is World War II. Nice patch! Feel free to post more. Too! If you want, go ahead and repost this patch under the reference section for the 101st Airborne. It is a great example.
Jim Baker Posted December 31, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2006 Bear, It's a WWII vintage patch. Referred to as an amoeba eye (the one cell critter). Not sure what number Bando gave it. Nice patch. Jim
