CNY Militaria Posted May 21, 2007 Share #31 Posted May 21, 2007 Rich, $20 is still a great bargain for a nice purple heart! Justin
RRA227 Posted May 21, 2007 Author Share #32 Posted May 21, 2007 Schottzie,Thank you for saying that.It kinda makes me feel better about it. The seller asked me if I was into Purple Hearts. He knows I am into field gear and the like. He got it from the front of his SUV to show me. He did not show it to anybody else. Another guy had a Silver Star. No name or number. He wanted $30 for it. Same box style as the P.H.. I thought that it was way to much so I did not buy it. If he still has it on wednesday maybe I'll offer him $20 for it. Rich A. CNY Militaria Posted May 21, 2007 Share #33 Posted May 21, 2007 Yes, those are great prices for boxed WWII made examples. I believe that purple hearts and silver stars go for much more on ebay and at shows.

RRA227 Posted May 23, 2007 Author Share #37 Posted May 23, 2007 Peace,Thanks! $30 a good deal? The blade is sharpened though. The pouch was $4.The collar devices were $2(he said give me what you want) and the patch was $2. David,Thanks! The M-3/M-6 combo cost is why you should up your per- item limit. That is my opinion though. But it is your pocket. Rich A.
CorsairAce Posted May 28, 2007 Share #38 Posted May 28, 2007 Your lucky if you can find a boxed Silver Star for $30. If you look on Ebay your lucky to get one under $50 lately. $20 for a Purple Heart is awsome too.

keith d Posted June 1, 2007 Share #42 Posted June 1, 2007 Good haul. I am trying to get in contact with the "clothing ladies" at the local Salvation Army. I got a few odds and ends last week and asked about other stuff. They told me that there are a few ladies who decide what is "safe" to sell to the public. What is not deemed as "safe" is put into the bailer and shipped off to the good old rag factory. Typical!
RRA227 Posted June 1, 2007 Author Share #43 Posted June 1, 2007 keith d,Thanks. At the Salvation Army near me they has a Knights of Columbus sword for $30. I do not know if this store has people like that. This stuff came from a store called American Family Services. They put out all kinds of stuff. After I got this I had to go home. I had no room for more stuff on the Harley.A militaria dealer I see at the flea markets has a sister-inlaw that is the manager of the Salvation Army Sorting Center. He goes there a few times a week to pick through the piles of stuff. He gets the really good stuff. He sells it on e-bay,gun shows and sets up at W.W.1/2 events. Rich A. keith d Posted June 1, 2007 Share #44 Posted June 1, 2007 Yea, I know how hard it is do go looking on a Harley! I just know that one of these days when I stop at a yard sale on mine will be the day someone shows me a trunk full of stuff. If I could only be so lucky! RRA227 Posted June 2, 2007 Author Share #45 Posted June 2, 2007 keith d,I rode the Sportster( 1987 30th. Ann. Ed.). Because it is warm out now I keep it on the back porch. The 'Glide is in the garage. To get at it I have to move a car. I am not playing move the car games to get it out every day or letting the 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury Max Wedge drag car outside. If I am going to yard sales or the flea market I'll take the Lumina or the Impala. Yes,they do not get 40 miles per gallon but when I go I hope to get a pile of stuff and keep what I get secure while shopping. Rich A.
