EARLY HBT SHIRT

Recommended Posts

This is the early HBT shirt introduced in 1941. It was short lived as it was complicated to manufacture and a simplier HBT shirt was introduced. Notice the double buttons and waist band. Also this shirt had an adjustable waist tab. Unfortuently my shirt is not in the best of shape as it was used as a work shirt and is speckled with old paint.

These first pattern coats are getting tough to find in any condition. I have seen quite a few photos of these being worn in the Pacific long after they were replaced by the later patterns. Col. Henry Mucci of the 6th Ranger Bn. was wearing one in the Philippines.

They are nicely made, but not as practical as the later types. The pockets are too small and waist is not loose enough for good ventilation.
