paul_bish Posted August 3, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2009 OK so have been busy uploading photos to the site. Lots to go but thought it was worth an update. Please ignore the non-period wristbands, they are very hot on security at the event... So up first we have RT Maine on patrol (over the fence in Kent) with our new indig team http://www.modernforces.com/rtmaine_impression_bw.htm http://www.modernforces.com/rtmaine_impression.htm and some Aus SASR, our first venture out of SOG and of course not US as per the forum name, but they are wearing US uniforms and gear etc. http://www.modernforces.com/sasr_impression.htm And SEAL Team 1, our first SEAL shoot so comments and feedback please http://www.modernforces.com/seal_1_impression.htm We have another show in 2 weeks so more photos after that. http://www.military-odyssey.com/ enjoy and all comments welcome

Would you be able to recommend any literature on SOG suitable for a beginner? I'm only just getting into Vietnam militaria and am not that clued up! Thanks, Will

paul_bish Posted August 3, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted August 3, 2009 Indeed. Just had a browse on your site, very impressive. Would you be able to recommend any literature on SOG suitable for a beginner? I'm only just getting into Vietnam militaria and am not that clued up! Thanks, Will I would suggest for a general background Plasters (he is an ex- SOG 1-0) first book SOG: The Secret Wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Secret-Americas-...2658&sr=8-2 His more biographical one is good too, Secret Commando (ignore the awful cover...) http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Commandos-Beh...2658&sr=8-1 For photos you have the following SOG: The Secret Wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam: a photo history: John Plaster Running Recon: Frank Greco (also a SOG veteran) SOG: Team History and Insignia of a Clandestine Army, Volume 1: Jason Hardy and Mike Tucker http://www.thedogtag.com/BK-1.htm and for the other side of SOG I would recomend We Few: Nik Brokhausen, very hard to find but a work of genius. Mike Tucker and Paul Miraldi on this forum also know a thing or two along with Mr-X. hope that helps /p

jumpwings Posted August 8, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 8, 2009 Paul, Many thanks for the references and links. I will most certainly check them out. Best wishes, Will Nice photos...Can I make a quick critique as this is the first thing which stood out, and please don't take it the wrong way... Face camo, also cover neck and hands... when taking living history photos, find a way of hiding the wrist bands, only takes a few seconds but makes a big diference...
