Attached is a custom ribbon set from a USAF Major General, three war veteran and double air ace.

This was never mounted on a uniform and is still in the original shrink wrap. There are also some non regulation features to it... I'll let you figure out which ones.

Enjoy!

I saw this at ETSY. Sad to see the rest of the ribbon rack is gone. I think that must have been an impressive rank and this combination of devices is not to often.

Could someone explain the left device and the larger black star?

Thanks for any information.

Michael

Salvage Sailor

The Arrowhead device denotes participation in an amphibious assault (or airborne landing). I'd say the dark star denotes five (5) to make eight (8) campaign stars on the EAME ribbon

@Salvage Sailor Thank you for the information.

Are eight campaign stars on the EAME ribbon seldom ? What are the most campaign stars you have seen on a EAME ribbon ?

I thought I had posted this before, but I see that I haven't.

Ribbon bar from Lieutenant General Frank A. Armstrong.

General Armstrong personally led first and last heavy bomber raids of World War II. The first raid was over Rouen-Sotteville, France. The last raid was over Honshu, Japan. He also led his group over Wilhelmshaven in the first heavy bomber raid over Germany proper.

Brigadier General Frank Savage from the movie "Twelve O'Clock High was based on the persona and service of Lieutenant General Armstrong.

Kaigun Shosa

Ribbons from my Father-in-laws uniform. Retired Brigadier General, 29 years in the Marine Corps, (VMI class 59)

Looks like another fine product from Leu's Handicraft, probably around the late 1970s - early 1980s since two additional gold stars were awarded for the Legion of Merit after 1985.
