Gregory Posted April 8, 2021 Share #51 Posted April 8, 2021 Here is the smallest cap device of my collection. I once bought light olive felt officer's visor cap of interwar period. It belonged to Capt. Bertrand H. Griffith of the 143rd Field Artillery. I took off the Eagle for a moment to take a photo - see below. The pic is in 1:1 scale. GOAmules Posted February 14, 2022 Share #52 Posted February 14, 2022 I was at an estate sale and there were 3 hats from the vet. One had an obviously nicer eagle emblem, so I got it. It's marked LGB (Balfour), and is heavy gold plated. It made the others (and some I already have) look like poor substitutes. What era are these? The hat is Superior Uniform Hat Co. Chicago. No date, bullion on the visor. The man seems to have been in from 1945 on.
Nkumburis Posted February 18, 2022 Share #53 Posted February 18, 2022 Hey Gents, There is some great eagles in this thread and I believe a huge help for everyone interested in cap eagles would be to pick up a copy of Mike Tucker's book, "United States Army Cap Insignia 1902 - 1975". Without a doubt the best book providing a great deal of information on cap eagles. I've learned a great deal from this book. Vampire Writer Posted February 24, 2022 Share #56 Posted February 24, 2022 Folks, I received my copy of "United States Army Cap Insignia 1902 - 1975" this morning and I have to say this is one of the best researched, noted, and illustrated books of cap badges I have ever seen. It has 294 pages of full color photos with written histories of probably every badge maker between 1902 and 1975. I actually identified a couple of badges in my collection that I didn't know anything about. So, if you have any interest in cap badges or want to collect cap badges, this book is an absolute must have for your research library. Here is Michael Tucker's page where you can order you very own copy https://authenticmilitaria.com/. You can spend hours just happily paging through it. cagedfalcon Posted December 14, 2022 Share #65 Posted December 14, 2022 I just pulled this out of a drawer. Never really looked a it, must be 4-5 years sitting. N.S. Meyer Inc. 9M marked. Overall good condition with what looks like paint just below the 13 stars. Hefty for its size. Judging from 3 pages of posts, not to unusual. Thanks for looking. havzp Posted July 14, 2023 Share #66 Posted July 14, 2023 It's an old thread but I hope to get some help. What is the differences between the Air Force interim gold cap badge and the Army cap badge. I don't seem to find guidance in distinguishing the USAF gold badges.

Do have an gilt anodized aluminum JR Gaunt, only a completely different style for the 1950-60's

hikerjay Posted January 25 Share #72 Posted January 25 Thank you. I will probably never know the maker. It has slight variations like the wide lines on the shield and the detail around the stars at the top.
