Vincennes Posted July 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2009 I picked up 9 dog tages (with chains) at the flea market. They are all for the same person...Ezra R Patterson. On 6 of them his serial number is AF18206540, 3 have no serial number. All (that include it) agree that his blood type is A (or A Pos), and his religion is Baptist or P (Protestant). The other tags carry a variety of information including 3 different addresses, an emergency telephone number, and the letters T54 or T56. I think AF is Air Force. Which would mean it is post 1947? Why do 3 of the tags have no serial number? What are T54 and T56? Are these all official dog tags? Can you date them from the notch? My pre-Vietnam dog tags do not have a notch. Paul
StevenL Posted July 18, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2009 Boy did that guy ever have a lot of tags! Those are all from the mid 50's, as the T dates (years he received a tetanus shot) show and they are indeed Air Force. The ones with addresses on them are probably just ones he had made up as a request, since at that time dog tags were not made with an address on them. That's a nice group.
