M-1926 enlisted summer service coat

I posted this jacket on the "what is it" topic in haste... When I checked the pockets and the associated museum transfer paperwork I not only got a partial i.d. but the insignia, which then matched to the campaign hat we received. Member Patches suggested I share it here as it may be the first 32nd Division M1926 in the forum?

This belonged to a Cpl Labbe who actually retired as a Colonel. He was in the 125th Infantry (Detroit's Light Guard). We have received many of the Labbe items and expect more next week. Hopefully we get the trousers. Thanks for looking and thanks to Patches. Scott

6th Infantry Regiment wearing 6th Infantry Divsion SSI in 1938. From the Saint Louis Globe-Democrat via the St. Louis Mercantile Library.

And another division crops up wearing the ytpe, now the 6th Division. Check out all their cartridge belts, they seem dyed OD right!

Found another unit wearing the type in the 30s, and with Khaki Service Caps.

 

Soldiers of the 121st Infantry 30th Division, note the wear of the Old hickory Patch in the original manner still.

This from the movie 1934 Flirtation Walk, Dick Powell there with the upside Down Hawaiian Division patch, Pat O'Brien is wearing a curious one, note the pointed Pocket Flaps of his, a variation or is a Marine Corps one with Army Brass Buttons placed on it????

For some reason, I have seen several period photographs of pre WW2 US Army enlisted men in Hawaii wearing M1926 pattern khaki service coats with pointed pocket flaps. A feature unique to uniforms issued to soldiers in Hawaii?

Well if they did, then wardrobe did a bang up job as this in Hollywood, but they still screwed up by sewing the Hawaiian Division patch upside down on Powell's Coat LOL

Thanks for that, a bit hard to see as it's a small image but we do see the pointed pocket flaps. I also forgot to note that the DIs worn was another foul up, they are from a California National Guard Coast Artillery Regiment, that aside, still great period shots of the type.

A solid albeit rather discolored set of Khakis to include Service Cap, a bit smushed we see, all this from a man that was in G Company of the 110th Infantry 28th Division, set sold long ago, note the placement of the DIs on the collar rather on the lower lapels, and it looks like that's were they always were since we're not seeing any blemishes on the lapels, like holes from the screw posts, or if it was a pin backs the pin holes.

Another Panama Canal Zone one, like in the earlier post, a 1st Coast Artillery one, but here the Hellgate Patch is has either not been sewn on, or has been stripped.

Another NG unit wearing the Khaki and with Khaki Service Caps, in something like 1936, they HQ Company 141st Infantry 36th Division, unit based at San Antone,

Is this one an example of the officer's version? It has the "rimless" version buttons if I read/understand the discussion on this thread.

Interesting, It won't be a M26 Khaki Coat as we've seen here, I dunno maybe a Cut Down Officers Coat in Khaki Cotton Twill as opposed to the Tropical Worsted Wool as worn by officers starting in the late 30s??? Coat modified towards the end of WWII/Post WWII????
