You will usually see these starting in about 1945 / Occupation and there were still some type of quilted patches being made in Vietnam.

There is suppose to be a quilted 11th Air ASSAULT patch, in one of McDuff’s books. Has anyone ever seen or even owned one? I would love to see that one. I would guess that not even a handful were made

The one shown in McDuff's book, I have always thought was fake.

Quilted patches are found among theater-made insignia during WWII, typically units based in the China-Burma-India theater.
