Steverino Posted June 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2009 Any opinions? The top patch I can categorically state is a repro. The bottom patch at least has old felt and may well be legit. Any chance of seeing a close-up so we can see the embroidery and the stitching? Patch Johnson
Teamski Posted June 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2009 I don't think either one is good. The photos of original 13th patches show them to be huge, 6" or so. -Ski

Steverino Posted June 27, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 27, 2009 Here is one that is part of a WWI insignia group that came in recently: Thanks for posting the close up. "After further review" I agree with Ski. I would judge both patches to be repros. The felt isn't old as I might have initially thought, plus the "13" is too crude here. I realize that WWI patches were largely crude by today's standards, but some fall below even those standards. Sorry to bear such an opinion, but I will always make the assumption that any questions on the forum are seeking accurate, unvarnished info.
