I attended the 65th D-Day Anniversary ceremony with 17 WW II veterans and was with a veteran who was also on the USS Rich when it was sunk, but he survived and donated his original PH to the Utah Beach Museum. Other veterans included gent's who landed on the first wave ("E" Company - 16th Infantry Regiment - 1st Infantry Divsion - Fox Green at 0630) or parachuted in with the 505th PIR (four stars on his jump wings). I already have a posthumous Purple Heart for the USS Rich in this action but this PH in the auction was in better condition than the one in my collection !! Really nice addition to the collection !!
