viking73 Posted November 8, 2015 Share #156 Posted November 8, 2015 I've got a couple I wanted to post here. Both are special since I met the authors and got to chat with them a bit. First is " Dustoff" by MOH recipient Michael Novosel. I met him at a small club in Ft. Walton Beach, FL while he was doing a book signing.
viking73 Posted November 8, 2015 Share #157 Posted November 8, 2015 The other one I wanted to show was "In the Company of Heroes" by Michael Durant. I obtained this at the Eglin BX when Mr. Durant was doing a book signing tour. I still have the newspaper clipping of the event as well. -Derek

USAFnav Posted November 8, 2015 Share #159 Posted November 8, 2015 Derek, Very nice, thanks for sharing. I like Mr. Novosel's inscription. Also, for Mr. Durant's inscription, what does "NSDQ" mean??? Pete
viking73 Posted November 8, 2015 Share #160 Posted November 8, 2015 Derek, Very nice, thanks for sharing. I like Mr. Novosel's inscription. Also, for Mr. Durant's inscription, what does "NSDQ" mean??? Pete Hi Pete, Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed these. I believe "NSDQ" stands for "Night Stalkers Don't Quit", the motto of Mr. Durant's former unit, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). -Derek

littlegto Posted December 10, 2015 Share #164 Posted December 10, 2015 My brother found this biography of Eddie Rickenbacker at the Palm Springs Air Museum. They were thinning out their extensive library and he bought this for $2.00. He didn't realize it was autographed by Eddie Rickenbacker until later. I came to Los Angeles this week on business. We met for dinner and he gave me this book.

B-17Guy Posted March 26, 2016 Share #166 Posted March 26, 2016 So a few years back, the crew chief of the B-25 "Executive Sweet" and I were spending the weekend adjusting the valves of both engines. We did the right engine on Saturday and were doing the left engine on Sunday. Late morning the local CAF unit was setting up for a flea market of model kits and books to sell. It filled the whole hangar with great stuff. We were ready for a mid-day break, so we walked over for a look and to grab a hot dog. As we walked around we came across what looked like an early copy of Carroll Glines first book on the Tokyo raid; "Doolittle's Tokyo Raiders". A look inside the cover and my jaw hit the floor! It was signed by a ton of Raiders! I showed it to the seller, as I wanted to make sure he knew what he had. He said yes, and said that it was from a reunion in the early 1980's, and that he was looking for a good home for it with someone that would appreciate it. We talked B25's, the raid and that I was a pilot/mechanic on ES. I think he sold it to me for $30. I offered more, but he would not take it. So here it is. It took a full day to try to decipher all the signatures, some easy, some real tough. The book contains signatures from a crew member from every B25 in the raid, except ship #4 and also Carroll Glines, Henry Miller (trained raiders on carrier t/o), and Mr. Liu (helped many Raiders escape in China). I am truly honored to have this book and hope you all enjoy seeing it. Best, John

BILL THE PATCH Posted April 16, 2016 Share #174 Posted April 16, 2016 Here is my autograph book, Above and beyond in 1998 there was a MOH convention about twenty minutes from my house just so happens my wife was in the hospital giving birth to my second daughter. I was able to sneak away to the parade and got this book signed by 33 MOH recipient's. They were having a blast and they were friendly. I wish I brought a camera. Melvin Biddle of the 517th Abn regt signed it twice he was having a good time. The author of the book signed the back page.
