Tiger Stripes

Hi All and Happy new year !!!

I hope everyone is doing great .

I remember Bobs set quite well .

It was mint condition and he also had a type of copy ERDL set that came with it also ,both sets were in the same cut ,also the Tiger set had a small swatch of the ERDL sewn into the belt loop and the ERDL set had a swatch of Tiger in its belt loop sewn on a piece of cardboard .

Most likley done by the tailor himself .

The print on these and Bobs trousers shown above was the lowgrade handscreened tailor copy type and is not hardwaring at all .

Though having said that it is super cool indeed .

I got the most stupid book for Christmas this year from my mother in law called "The Vietnam War Collectables price guide " boy is this book a sad effort , this is the wrong place to talk about books I know , but anyway ,there is a set of this pattern tigers in the cammo section .So it is around but I have only ever seen a couple of pieces of it .

Sweet

Well going back to the title of this thread about where Tigers were made, I think it is safe to say that these fine night night slippers were made in China .

That being said tell your girl to send me a pair , I am a size 10 .

I got a crazy pair of woodland pajamas so I think you got the better present !!!

Owen, I had forgot about the erdl tailor set that was with that tiger set. If you remember there was the small plastic box in the pocket that had the swatches of material, for both sets, stapled to the original tailor's specification and order form, from Bien Hoa, not some Asian Tailor shop.

Both the Tiger and the ERDL shirts were cut similar to a safari type jacket. I was trying to remember today who bought them and I think it was our French Camo collector friend.

A little off topic...but does anyone have any idea as to what the inscription translates to on these (nice) portraits?

Jerome-I remember the vest I sold you but this is definately different. This material is a real smooth / thin cotton. I believe JP bought the two sets from me.

Article from the UK publication 'Combat & Survival' September 2005. They run a monthly 'Kit & Camo' column which has turned out some very interesting items before and since although I believe this is the first one dealing with Vietnam militaria. Posted for entertainment purposes only ...
